The European Tour travels from Italy to Germany for the 37th edition of the BMW International Open.
The Championship Course at Golfclub Munchen Eichenried will play host for the 31st time in tournament history. The historic Munich track stretches to 7,347 yards and will play to a par 72.
The tournament will be headlined by Patrick Reed, Marco Penge and a host of LIV Golf stars, including Joaquin Niemann, Jose Ballester, Sergio Garcia, Abraham Ancer, and home hero Martin Kaymer, among others.

BMW International History
The BMW International Open is Germany’s longest running professional golf tour event. First contested in 1989, Northern Ireland’s David Feherty edged American Fred Couples by five strokes to capture the inaugural trophy.
The tournament was annually held in Greater Munich, the home base of BMW, until 2012 when it began rotating between Munich (Golfclub München Eichenried – 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019) and Cologne (Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof – 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018). The tournament was canceled in 2020 during COVID-19, and since returning in 2021, it’s been contested at Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich.
Until the Porsche European Open arrived in 2015, the BMW International was the Tour’s lone event contested in Germany. The total prize money is now up to $3 million, which is about a mid-tier purse on the European Tour.
Martin Kaymer is the only native son to have won the title in the 36 prior editions. German legend Bernhard Langer is a five-time runner up.
Two-time winners Paul Azinger, Pablo Larrazabal, Henrik Stenson, and Thomas Bjorn are tied for the most victories. Other big names engraved on the trophy include Sandy Lyle, Frank Nobilo, Colin Montgomerie, Lee Westwood, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Danny Willett, Ernie Els, and John Daly.

BMW International Field
The headliners and betting favs include Marco Penge, Patrick Reed, Joaquin Niemann, and Eugenio Chacarra.
Niemann, who is the betting favorite at 8-1, enters off three top-10s in his last four starts including a win at LIV Golf Korea and a T7 at the U.S. Open.
Chacarra, a former LIV Golf star, is also on a heater off two straight Euro Tour wins, including last week in Italy.
Meanwhile, Reed, who was red hot earlier in the season, arrives in Germany in suspect form with a T45 in Italy last week and a missed cut at Shinnecock.
Finally, Penge has struggled with the move to the States, amid his debut season on the PGA Tour. He recently took a mental sabbatical and will look to get back in form. His two most recent Tour starts were a T77 at Hilton Head and CUT at the PGA.
Another headliner is Sergio Garcia, who is listed at 50-1. The Spaniard enters off two solid outings in his last four starts: solo 4th at LIV Golf Andalucia and runner-up at LIV Golf Virginia. Garcia’s Spain compatriot, Angel Ayora, is also a strong betting pick at 18-1. The young star comes in off back-to-back top-5s on the Euro Tour.
Abraham Ancer is another top contender, who enters off two strong results (3rd-T5) since May.
