The second edition of the DP World India Championship runs October 15–18, 2026, at Delhi Golf Club (Lodhi Course) in New Delhi. It features a $4 million purse, the largest ever for a DP World Tour event in India, and awards 5,000 Race to Dubai points (with the winner taking roughly 835).

Co-sanctioned with the DP World Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), it is the eighth event of the European circuit’s Back 9 phase as the season builds toward the playoffs and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Tommy Fleetwood returns as defending champion after winning the inaugural 2025 edition by two shots at 22-under (266), with a final-round 65. Keita Nakajima finished second; Shane Lowry, Alex Fitzpatrick, and Thriston Lawrence tied for third.

The Course

Delhi Golf Club’s Lodhi Course is a par-72 layout measuring roughly 6,912 yards. It is a classic tree-lined parkland test set against historic Mughal-era monuments.

Redesigned by Gary Player Design in 2019, it emphasizes accuracy, course management, and short-game precision over raw power.

Dense trees punish wayward tee shots, while the relatively modest length and potential for soft conditions allow low scoring (Fleetwood’s -22 remains the benchmark).

The course has previously hosted the Indian Open and other events and rewards players who keep the ball in play and capitalize on scoring opportunities.

Key Storylines

A strong international field is headlined by Rory McIlroy, defending champion Tommy Fleetwood, 2026 PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai, 2026 Open champion Ryan Fox, Patrick Reed, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry, Luke Donald, Min Woo Lee, and Robert MacIntyre, among others.

Several LIV Golf players have also been invited, headlined by Tom McKibbin and Thomas Detry.

The tournament is significant for the Race to Dubai. Entering the week, Patrick Reed leads, with Eugenio Chacarra close behind and McIlroy in third. A strong week (especially a win) can reshape the top of the standings with the Play-offs and enhanced points events still ahead. Reed, Chacarra, and McIlroy are all in the field.

For Indian golf, the event is a major showcase. It is the destination of the Race to DP World India Championship, giving top PGTI Order of Merit players a direct path to the global stage.

Notable Indian participants include Shubhankar Sharma, Anirban Lahiri, Yuvraj Sandhu, Saptak Talwar, and others. The winner of the domestic Order of Merit earns full DP World Tour status.

Players to Watch

  • Tommy Fleetwood: Defending champion with proven form on this layout and a track record of peaking in big weeks.
  • Rory McIlroy: The biggest draw. Accuracy is at a premium here; his power can still be an asset if controlled.
  • Aaron Rai: One of the Tour’s most accurate drivers, which suits the tight fairways. A major winner this season with strong form.
  • Ryan Fox: Fresh off his Open Championship win and capable of controlling a precision-oriented course.
  • Patrick Reed: Leading the Race to Dubai and a proven closer under pressure.
  • Indian Contenders: Home advantage, course knowledge, and the incentive of Order of Merit implications make several domestic players dangerous.

Expect a premium on driving accuracy, iron play into receptive greens, and strong putting/scrambling.

With Race to Dubai points on the line, major winners present, and a vibrant home crowd, the second edition should be competitive and high-quality.
