Michael Brennan continued his rapid rise on the PGA Tour on Sunday, winning the 2026 Baycurrent Classic with a composed final-round 3-under 68 to finish at 16-under 268 and edge Jacob Bridgeman and Keith Mitchell by one stroke at Yokohama Country Club.
The 24-year-old American, who already owns wins at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship and the 2026 Wyndham Championship, secured his third PGA Tour victory in just 33 career starts. It was his second title of the year and came in his first trip to Japan and Asia.
Brennan claimed the $1.44 million winner’s share from the $8 million purse and 500 FedEx Cup points.
Brennan began the final round tied for the lead at 13-under with Bridgeman and Zach Bauchou. He birdied the fifth and sixth holes but dropped a shot at the 10th, after a missed green and a failed up-and-down. He responded immediately with birdies at the 11th (from about 17 feet) and 12th (from about 10 feet), then closed with six consecutive pars.
A key par save came at the par-3 16th, where he splashed out from a greenside bunker to within a foot. On the final hole he needed only two putts for par to secure the win, with family members, including his brother Sean, who had flown in on Saturday, watching on the 18th green.
“Unbelievable. It was an unbelievable week,” Brennan said. “Japan was spectacular. The fans were amazing this week. It was so awesome to have my brother fly out here and be here for the weekend.”
He added that he was frustrated after the bogey at 10 but that the birdies at 11 and 12 were “huge,” and he credited prior experiences, including his Wyndham win and near-misses earlier in the season, for helping him stay composed.
Brennan’s driving was a major factor. He hit all 15 fairways in the final round and 55 of 60 for the week (92 percent), leading the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee.
Bridgeman, a college teammate of Brennan’s at Wake Forest, shot 69 and stayed in the hunt until late. He missed a short birdie putt at the 17th that would have tied Brennan and failed to convert a long birdie chance at 18.
Mitchell charged early with a strong front nine but could not maintain the momentum on the tougher back nine, finishing with a 68.
Defending champion Xander Schauffele made a late push with a 67 but double-bogeyed the 18th after finding the trees off the tee, settling for a tie for fourth at 13-under alongside Brian Harman, Stephan Jaeger, Ryan Gerard, and Jordan Smith.
Other notables included Min Woo Lee (T9 at 12-under), Adam Scott and Jordan Spieth (both T13 at 11-under), and Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama (T21 at 9-under).
