A few months ago we listed our favorite PGA Tour trophies over at Pro Golf Weekly. The 10 on the list were primarily traditional in style, i.e. they look like a classic trophy.
Consider this a follow up: The ugliest PGA Tour trophies.
The good news is this: There weren’t 10 real ugly ones, so we kept it to five:
1. Sentry Tournament of Champions’ Glass Thingamajig
It looks like something you’d find in the clearance bin at Home Goods or something. Just plain u-g-l-y and odd.
2. Sanderson Farms Championship’s Rooster
A bronze chicken would be okay as tee markers, or whatnot, but as a trophy, it totally cheezifies the tournament. It’s a trophy you’d see handed out on Happy Gilmore.
3. Mayakoba Golf Classic’s Chameleon
The trophy apparently depicts a chameleon which makes total sense because I always pegged it as a seashell. No matter what camouflage it uses, it’ll never look like a trophy.
4. Farmers Insurance Open Torrey Pine
The Farmers Open’s trophy is a small tree (Torrey Pine) which if it were bronzed would be passable, but it’s absolutely ruined with a paint job. You’re left with a nick-nack you’d see in a Hallmark store.
5. Valspar Championship Paint Brush
Speaking of paint… If you didn’t know that Valspar was a paint company, the trophy will surely remind you. Head-shaking cheesy.
Honorable Mentions: TOUR Championship (putter), Safeway Open (wine barrel), and Hero World Challenge (tiger).
