The 101st PGA Championship gets underway Thursday morning at the Bethpage Black course in Farmingdale, New York. Let’s take a look at the featured pairings for the opening two rounds.
In one marquee grouping, as is tradition, the PGA pairs up the three most recent major winners, so we’ll have Tiger Woods (Masters) playing alongside Brooks Koepka (PGA), and Francesco Molinari (Open Championship). In fact, because Koepka is also the reigning U.S. Open champ, the trio will tee off holding all four major championship trophies.
In another top grouping, two of the major winners from the 2017 season – Justin Thomas (PGA) and Sergio Garcia (Masters) – will be joined by Adam Scott, who also holds a Green Jacket.
A third marquee grouping will have world No. 2 Justin Rose, of England, playing with a pair of Americans in Rickie Fowler, and two-time Masters winner Bubba Watson.
World No. 1 Dustin Johnson will be paired with three-time major winner Jordan Spieth and superstar Spaniard Jon Rahm.
Finally, three former PGA winners – Phil Mickelson, Jason Day, and Rory McIlroy – comprise a fifth featured group.
