PXG’s updated Secret Weapon Mini Driver delivers controllable driver-like distance in a compact package — ideal when fairways matter more than pure bomb distance.

Released in late October 2026 as the second-generation model, this 300cc mini driver sits squarely between a full-size driver and a 3-wood. It’s roughly 35% smaller than a standard 460cc driver and about 50% larger than a typical 200cc 3-wood, with a shorter 43.25-inch shaft that makes it easier to control than a traditional driver.

Mini drivers have attracted a lot of attention from tour professionals and top amateurs for the simple reason: it’s built as a more controllable alternative to the traditional driver on tight holes, doglegs, and it’s more forgiving than a 3-wood off the tee.

PXG’s new version of their Secret Weapon model has a one-third smaller head than the usual driver, is almost three inches shorter and a strong 3-wood loft.

The company says due to a reconfigured internal sole design the face is 4% thinner than the previous model, which allows for additional impact flexing and more ball speed is possible. The weight saved from the face and the use of carbon fiber in the crown was repositioned to increase the MOI or resistance to twisting for better control.

The four-weight system (heel, toe, front, and back) lets you dial spin, shot shape, and swing weight.

“The thinner face and refined sole structure work together,” said Caleb Kroloff, PXG Director of Woods Research & Development.

“We reinforced the areas that needed support and moved saved weight to the perimeter. That helps us deliver more speed with more consistent performance when golfers miss the center of the face.”

Mini drivers aren’t mandatory for everyone but when finding the fairway is the priority, the Secret Weapon is a sharp, highly adjustable option that closes the performance gap between driver and fairway wood.
