Lexi Thompson, 29, has announced that she will retire as a full-time player at the end of the 2024 LPGA season. The Florida star, who turned pro at age 15 and became the youngest woman to win an LPGA tournament at age 16, is an 11-time winner on women’s pro tour.

Thompson, who has not won an LPGA event since 2019, has struggled in recent years, and 2024 has been no different. She missed three straight cuts preceding her announcement.

Although, in 2023, Thompson became the seventh woman to play on the men’s PGA Tour when she teed it up in the Shriners Children’s Open. She missed the cut by just two strokes.

Thompson suggested she may play a part-time schedule in 2025.

“I’m taking it day by day right now,” Thompson said. “I’m not going to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on how many events I’ll play or if I do. I’m just going to take it day by day and see how I feel, especially going into next year. But I’m very content with this being my last full-time schedule year.”
