Yuto Katsuragawa claimed his second DP World Tour title on Sunday, holding steady for a two-shot victory at the Genesis Championship and transforming a season that had him fighting to retain his playing privileges.

The 28-year-old Japanese golfer finished at 13-under-par 271 at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club after a final-round even-par 71. He edged Frenchmen Frederic Lacroix (68) and Martin Couvra (69), who shared second at 11 under. Katsuragawa’s rounds were 69-68-63-71.

A day earlier, he had surged into the lead with a flawless 8-under 63 that tied the course record set by Jinam Kang in 2006. Starting the third round five shots off the pace, Katsuragawa made five birdies going out, including four in a row on Nos. 2, 3, 4, and 5, then closed flawlessly to reach 13 under and open a two-shot advantage over Casey Jarvis.

Sunday was more measured. Katsuragawa made just one birdie (on No. 4) and 16 pars before a tap-in bogey at the last that still left him two clear. The composure was enough after the Saturday fireworks.

“After the first win I had such a hard time, but having the second win is definitely the greatest moment of my career,” Katsuragawa said. “I was nervous, not just about winning, but also about my DP World Tour ranking, so it was double pressure for me, but I think I got through.”

He called it “the greatest moment of my life” and noted the importance of staying on the tour: “To play on the DP World Tour is something I need in my life and I am very happy to play in Dubai.”

Katsuragawa entered the week 106th in the Race to Dubai standings, outside the top 100 that retain full status for 2027. The win vaulted him to 28th, locking in his card and guaranteeing starts in the two season-ending Rolex Series playoff events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai — a first for him. He earned 835 Race to Dubai points, a $680,000 first-place check, a Genesis GV80 Hybrid, and two-year exemptions on both the DP World Tour and co-sanctioning KPGA Tour. He also received 1,300 KPGA Genesis points.

“I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude to Genesis, the tournament’s title partner, and to everyone involved,” he said. “I would love to drive the GV80 Hybrid as my personal car in Japan.”

His first DP World Tour victory came at the 2024 ISPS Handa Championship in Japan. After a long gap, he credited a new putting coach met after the Irish Open for helping restore his form and confidence.

Jarvis, seeking a third win of 2026 after earlier successes in Kenya and South Africa, closed with a 72 and dropped into a share of fourth at 10 under, alongside Open champion Ryan Fox (70) and others. The $4 million event, in its 10th year and co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and KPGA since 2024, drew about 30,000 spectators.

Katsuragawa’s victory also positions him for a significant rise in the Official World Golf Ranking from his pre-event mark near 404th.

The win ends the regular season and sets the field for the DP World Tour playoffs, which begin in two weeks.
