The United States Golf Association (USGA) announced a significant extension of its media rights partnership with NBCUniversal, securing coverage of the U.S. Open and other key championships through 2032.
The agreement ensures that NBC remains the exclusive domestic broadcast home for the U.S. Open, U.S. Women’s Open, and U.S. Senior Open, with expanded coverage across NBC, Peacock, USA Network, and Golf Channel starting in 2027, following the conclusion of the current deal in 2026.
The extended deal introduces enhanced coverage for the U.S. Open, which will continue to boast the most broadcast hours of any major golf championship, with a minimum of 25 hours on NBC (33 hours for West Coast events). Notably, the agreement adds an extra hour of primetime coverage on both Thursday and Friday, bringing the total to five hours per day, including two hours in primetime.
In total, the U.S. Open will feature 48 hours of coverage, while the U.S. Women’s Open will receive 27 hours, including seven weekend hours on NBC, and the U.S. Senior Open will have 18 hours, with six weekend hours on NBC.
Peacock will simulstream all NBC broadcasts and provide exclusive streaming coverage for the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open. Additionally, VERSANT, a new independent media company, spun off from Comcast Corporation in 2025, has acquired rights to broadcast USGA championships on USA Network and Golf Channel through 2032. USA Network will cover the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open, while Golf Channel will air nine other USGA events, including the U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Senior Women’s Open, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Women’s Amateur, U.S. Junior Amateur, U.S. Girls’ Junior, U.S. Adaptive Open, Walker Cup, and Curtis Cup.
Coverage highlights include 15 hours each for the U.S. Amateur and U.S. Women’s Amateur, 12 hours for the Walker Cup, and 16 hours for the Curtis Cup when played in the U.S.
“We’re incredibly proud of the partnership we’ve built over the years with NBCU and VERSANT,” said USGA CEO Mike Whan. “This agreement enables the USGA to further advance our mission to positively impact the game, while providing the most expansive coverage and broadest reach to showcase USGA championships.”
NBC Sports President Rick Cordella emphasized the long-standing relationship, stating, “We have built something incredibly special with the U.S. Open on NBC. We look forward to further advancing and enhancing our coverage through 2032.”
Matt Hong, President of Sports at VERSANT, added that USA Network’s reach and Golf Channel’s reputation make them ideal platforms for showcasing these prestigious events.
The partnership also includes Golf Channel’s acclaimed “Live From” studio show, which will provide comprehensive pre- and post-round coverage for the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open, as well as its unique “Golf’s Longest Day” coverage of U.S. Open Final Qualifying. This extension follows NBCUniversal’s history with the USGA, which began in 1995, paused briefly when Fox Sports held the rights from 2015 to 2019, and resumed in 2020 after scheduling challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic prompted Fox to relinquish the contract early.
Despite interest from other networks like ESPN and Netflix, the USGA opted to continue its trusted partnership with NBCUniversal, ensuring stability and enhanced visibility for its championships through 2032.
