Scottie Scheffler will have his trusted caddie, Ted Scott, back on the bag for the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, marking a significant reunion for the FedExCup finale.
Scott, who has been Scheffler’s caddie since late 2021, missed the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the entire BMW Championship due to a private family matter in Louisiana, but he is set to return for the season-ending event, according to the PGA Tour.
Scheffler, the reigning FedExCup champion and world No. 1, has had a dominant 2025 season, securing five PGA Tour victories, including two major championships and the BMW Championship last week.

During Scott’s absence, Scheffler relied on fill-in caddies Brad Payne, a PGA Tour chaplain, for the final round in Memphis, where he finished T3, and Michael Cromie, typically Chris Kirk’s caddie, for the BMW Championship, where he clinched his 18th career Tour title with a dramatic chip-in birdie.
“Ted’s where he needs to be right now, and I think caddying is probably the last thing on his mind, as it should be,” Scheffler said last week at Caves Valley, emphasizing his support for Scott’s family priorities.
The Scheffler-Scott partnership has been prolific, yielding 17 of Scheffler’s 18 PGA Tour wins, including four majors and a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Scott’s return is timely as Scheffler aims to become the first player to win back-to-back FedExCups, entering the Tour Championship as the points leader in a 30-man field.

While details of Scott’s absence remain private, Scheffler previously shared that Scott’s family was in good spirits. With Scott back by his side, Scheffler is poised to leverage their proven chemistry at East Lake, where he hopes to cap his stellar season with another title.
The Tour Championship, teeing off on Thursday, will feature a traditional format, moving away from the handicap strokes used in recent years.
