Bryson DeChambeau has clinched an automatic berth on the 2025 United States Ryder Cup team, overcoming the significant hurdle of limited point-earning opportunities as a LIV Golf player.

The 31-year-old superstar secured the sixth and final automatic qualifying spot following the conclusion of the BMW Championship, joining Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, and Harris English on the U.S. squad set to face Europe at Bethpage Black from September 26-28.

DeChambeau’s qualification is a remarkable feat, as LIV Golf events do not contribute to the U.S. Ryder Cup points system, leaving him reliant solely on his performances in the four major championships over the 17-month qualification period that began in March 2024. His consistent excellence in these high-stakes tournaments — six top-10 finishes across eight majors since 2024 — propelled him into the top six. Highlights include a T6 at the 2024 Masters, a runner-up at the 2024 PGA Championship, a dramatic one-shot victory at the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, and further strong showings in 2025 with a T5 at the Masters, a T2 at the PGA Championship, and a T10 at The Open Championship.

“Qualifying this way feels incredibly rewarding,” DeChambeau said. “I knew I had to make every major count, and to come out with a spot alongside these guys is something I’m really proud of.” His 2024 U.S. Open win, sealed with a clutch up-and-down par on the 72nd hole, was a pivotal moment, showcasing the intensity and precision that have defined his Ryder Cup campaigns.

The U.S. Ryder Cup points system awards points based on prize money earned on the PGA Tour, with majors offering the most significant opportunities for accumulation. DeChambeau, competing in just eight recognized events during the qualification window, faced fierce competition from PGA Tour players like Maverick McNealy, who finished third at the BMW Championship but fell short of overtaking DeChambeau for the final spot.

DeChambeau’s qualification marks his third Ryder Cup appearance, having previously played in 2018 and 2021, where he compiled a 2-3-1 record, including a 1-0-1 mark in four-ball. His absence from the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, where he was overlooked for a captain’s pick, fueled his determination.

“Missing last time stung,” DeChambeau admitted. “I wanted to prove I belong on this team, and I’m thrilled to be back.”

U.S. captain Keegan Bradley, who will announce his six captain’s picks after the Tour Championship, praised DeChambeau’s resilience.

“Bryson’s done something special here, qualifying through majors alone,” Bradley said. “His energy and skill are huge for us at Bethpage.”

DeChambeau’s inclusion as the lone LIV Golf player among the automatic qualifiers underscores his value to a team aiming to reclaim the Ryder Cup after a 16.5-11.5 loss to Europe in 2023.

The other automatic qualifiers include world No. 1 Scheffler, who won the 2025 PGA Championship and Open Championship; Spaun, making his Ryder Cup debut after winning the 2024 U.S. Open; Schauffele, a two-time major winner in 2024; Henley, a rookie with a 2025 Arnold Palmer Invitational title; and English, a 2021 Ryder Cup veteran who notched two runner-up finishes in 2025 majors.

As he prepares for Bethpage Black, where the raucous New York crowds await, DeChambeau’s power, passion, and major-championship pedigree make him a cornerstone of Team USA’s quest to reclaim the Ryder Cup on home soil.
