X Forged irons have returned to the Callaway lineup with a companion X Forged Max model which is more forgiving. Both have a sole with three angles to smooth turf contact.

When the X Forged line came out originally many elite players gravitated to it for the looks as well as performance and now after a hiatus, they are available again complemented by a players-distance iron of similar design called the Max. The company tells me these new irons are the softest and best feeling of all their irons.
The Max model has a slightly larger head, a wider sole and stronger lofts than the X Forged plus a small amount of added offset. It fits neatly into a distance iron category offering for Callaway while still being able to produce the launch window better players want.
X Forged Max compared to X Forged provides single piece head that blends workability, feedback, and additional forgiveness for better players in a mid-compact profile. It also includes a more player-friendly cavity back and offset, and a refined topline.
Having been available in the Japanese market the 2025 design was inspired by the types of grasses found there all growing on relatively firm ground hence both new models have a three-angle sole to smooth the blade passing through the turf.
