NORTON, Mass. — Chinese rookie Miranda Wang captured her first LPGA title on Sunday, edging out world No. 1 Jeeno Thitikul by one stroke to win the FM Championship at TPC Boston.
The 26-year-old Duke alum delivered a clutch performance, finishing at 20-under 268 with a final-round 2-under 70 to claim the $615,000 top prize.
Wang, ranked No. 187 in the world, showcased her poise under pressure, sinking a critical 6-foot birdie putt on the par-4 17th to take the lead. She sealed the victory with a steady par on the par-5 18th, navigating a challenging day against Thitikul, who carded a 67 but faltered with a bogey on 17.
“It’s a dream come true,” Wang said. “I hope this is the first of many, and I’ll keep working hard.”
The win marks Wang as the seventh LPGA rookie victor this season and the third Chinese player to claim an LPGA title, joining Feng Shanshan and Yin Ruoning. Her hot putter, needing just 107 putts over the tournament, including 24 in the third round, was key to her success on the rain-softened TPC Boston course.
South Korea’s Sei Young Kim finished third at 17-under, while American Andrea Lee took fourth at 16-under.
Rose Zhang, Wang’s close friend and final-round playing partner, tied for fifth at 15-under alongside Jin Hee Im. The tournament, disrupted by rain delays, highlighted the LPGA’s remarkable 2025 season, with 24 different winners in 23 events.
Wang’s victory, celebrated with a champagne shower from friends Zhang and Zhang Weiwei, sets the stage for the LPGA’s next stop at the Kroger Queen City Championship in Cincinnati.
