Nelly Korda’s 2024 U.S. Women’s Open was over before it really began. The world No. 1 carded a 10 (+7) on the par-3 12th (her third hole of the day), eventually signing for a 10-over 80, effectively ending any hope of a second major in 2024.

Korda’s 10-over par 80 on Thursday at Lancaster Country Club was the highest round in relation to par of her LPGA career.

Ironically, her last score of 80 occurred at the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach when she posted an 8-over 80.

“I mean, not a lot of positive thoughts, honestly,” said Korda. “Just honestly, I just didn’t play well today. I didn’t hit it good. I found myself in the rough a lot.

“Making a 10 on a par-3 will definitely not do you any good at a U.S. Open. I started off really poorly but played pretty well on the back nine. But overall, yeah, just a bad day in the office.”
