Scottie Scheffler delivered a masterclass in resilience and precision to claim the 2025 BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club on Sunday, securing his fifth PGA Tour victory of the season and etching his name alongside golf legend Tiger Woods in the history books.
The world No. 1 erased a four-shot deficit to overtake Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre, finishing with a 3-under 67, good for a a 72-hole total of 15-under 265.
The final round began with MacIntyre holding a commanding four-shot lead after a stellar 62 in the opening round. However, Scheffler’s relentless consistency and a pivotal moment of brilliance on the par-3 17th turned the tide. Leading by one shot with two holes to play, Scheffler faced a daunting 82-foot chip from the left rough on the treacherous 17th, where the green sloped toward water. His deft chip landed softly, rolled down the slope, and dropped into the cup for a birdie, igniting the crowd and effectively sealing the victory. “It looked good when it landed, looked good when it was rolling, and it was nice to see that one go in,” Scheffler said post-round.

MacIntyre, who struggled early with bogeys on the first, second, and fifth holes, couldn’t recover despite a late birdie on the 16th. His final-round 73 left him at 13-under, a valiant effort but not enough to hold off Scheffler’s charge.
“He’s the better player on the day,” a frustrated MacIntyre admitted, lamenting his poor start. “I want to go and smash up my golf clubs, to be honest with you.”
Scheffler’s victory was all the more remarkable given the absence of his regular caddie, Ted Scott, who missed the event due to a family emergency. Michael Cromie, the full-time caddie for Chris Kirk, stepped in and earned praise from Scheffler for his seamless support.
“Cromie did a great job this week. It’s not easy stepping in and trying to fill in for Ted,” Scheffler noted.
The win netted Scheffler $3.6 million and a $5 million bonus for cementing the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings heading into the Tour Championship. This marks the third consecutive year Scheffler has led the FedEx Cup race into the finale, though this year’s format levels the field at even par for all 30 qualifiers. Scheffler’s fifth win of 2025, which includes two majors (PGA Championship and Open Championship), makes him the first player since Tiger Woods (2006-07) to achieve five or more PGA Tour victories in consecutive seasons.

Scheffler’s 18th career PGA Tour title in just over three years underscores his dominance, with his 17th consecutive under-par round and only five bogeys all week highlighting his precision. As he heads to East Lake, Scheffler remains the favorite to become the first repeat FedEx Cup champion since 2007, a testament to his unrelenting excellence.
“This was a grind,” Scheffler said. “We bring intensity to each shot, and today we executed when it mattered.”
Other notable performances included Rory McIlroy, who finished T12 at 3-under, citing competitive rust but optimism for the Tour Championship. Rickie Fowler’s late stumbles, including a double bogey on the 15th, cost him a spot in the top 30, while England’s Harry Hall kept his Ryder Cup hopes alive by securing a berth in the Tour Championship berth.
