ATLANTA, GA – In a dramatic (and long-awaited) triumph, Tommy Fleetwood of England etched his name into PGA Tour history by winning the 2025 Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club, securing his first-ever PGA Tour title and the coveted FedExCup trophy.

The 34-year-old Englishman delivered a commanding performance, finishing at 18-under-par with a final-round 68 to claim a three-shot victory over Russell Henley and Patrick Cantlay, earning a staggering $10 million prize.

Fleetwood’s breakthrough moment came in his 164th PGA Tour start, silencing the narrative of being one of the best players without a Tour win. The victory, celebrated by thousands of fans chanting “Tommy! Tommy! Tommy!” around the 18th green, marked the culmination of a season filled with near-misses and showcased his resilience after years of close calls.

“It’s easy for anybody to say that they are resilient, that they bounce back, that they have fight,” Fleetwood said post-round. “It’s different when you actually have to prove it.”

Fleetwood’s final score of 262 (-18) placed him three strokes ahead of Cantlay and Henley, who both finished at 15-under. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, aiming to become the first back-to-back FedExCup champion, struggled with an opening tee shot out of bounds and a double bogey on the par-3 15th, finishing tied for fourth at 14-under alongside Corey Conners and Cameron Young. Keegan Bradley, the U.S. Ryder Cup captain, also faltered on the 15th with a double bogey, ending tied for seventh at 13-under as he faces a looming decision about his Ryder Cup captain’s picks.

The victory was particularly poignant given Fleetwood’s history of heartbreak. Earlier in 2025, he lost a late lead on the final hole at the Travelers Championship to Bradley and squandered a two-shot lead with three holes to play at the FedEx St. Jude Championship.

Reflecting on those moments, Fleetwood said, “You just keep learning, don’t you? I guess there was Travelers, there was Memphis, obviously plenty before. I feel like I’ve had a great attitude throughout it all.” His mental fortitude shone through at East Lake, where he converted his third 54-hole lead of the season into a win, becoming the first player in FedExCup history to make the Tour Championship his maiden PGA Tour title.

The $40 million purse at the Tour Championship ensured massive paydays for the top finishers, with Fleetwood’s $10 million check accompanied by a five-year PGA Tour exemption and the “Calamity Jane” replica putter, and the tour’s signature FedExCup trophy. Henley and Cantlay each earned $4.352 million for their T2 finish, while the top eight finishers all pocketed seven-figure sums. Even Sepp Straka, who finished dead last at 7-over, took home $355,000.

The win made Fleetwood the second Englishman to claim the FedExCup, following Justin Rose in 2018, and ended a season of what-ifs with a resounding exclamation point.
