HISTORY

The Insperity Invitational debuted in 2004 as the Administaff Small Business Classic, and is played in suburban Houston. The first four editions were at Augusta Pines Golf Club in Spring, Texas, then moved to The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands in 2008, the former home of the Houston Open on the PGA Tour

For the first eight editions, the then Administaff tournament was contested in October, but switched to early May in 2012.

The sponsor has been the same since its inception, as Insperity was previously known as Administaff. The purse for 2019 is $2.2 million, with a winner’s share of $330,000.

Bernhard Langer shot a final-round 70 to complete a wire-to-wire win at the Insperity Invitational.

Langer entered Sunday’s finale at TPC Woodlands with a one-shot lead, but after going 2-over par through eight holes, the German star fell three off the pace.

Langer recovered nicely, though, making birdies on hole Nos. 9, 10, 13 and 15 en route to a 2-under 70 and three-day total of 11-under par, good for a one-shot victory over Paul Goydos, Bart Bryant and Jeff Maggert.
