The 43rd Ryder Cup, originally set for the fall of 2020, was reschedule due to the COVID-19 scare. The new date is Sept. 21-26, 2021 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin.
The points system for the U.S. team will decide the top six players with Captain Steve Stricker choosing the final six. (Previously it was eight via points, and four captain’s picks.)
Stricker will announced his at-large selections following the 2021 TOUR Championship at East Lake.
Harris English Moves into Ryder Cup Top 10
On Sunday at TPC River Highlands, Harris English edged Kramer Hickok in a marathon playoff to claim victory at the Travelers Championship.
The Georgia native was also the big winner in terms of Ryder Cup points as the 31-year old jumped from 13th to 8th in the latest U.S. Ryder Cup standings.
English, who is looking to secure his first Ryder Cup appearance is now firmly in contention with just 11 weeks left until Captain Stricker finalizes his picks.
The top five players in the standings – Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka, and Justin Thomas – are near locks, so much of the jockeying will be for the final locked-in spot as well as the six at-large picks.
