The final event of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season tees off this week in Greensboro, North Carolina with the 83rd edition of the Wyndham Championship.

Contested at historic Sedgefield Country Club, the field this week is headlined by Will Zalatoris, Billy Horschel and Shane Lowry, among others.

While there are many players to like this week, including six of the world’s top-30 ranked players, these are the 10 golfers we feel are the cream of the crop – at this moment in time.


10. Webb Simpson

Despite a down year, and in search of his first top-10 finish of 2022, the North Carolina native still enters the week as a top-5 betting favorite… His form at Sedgefield is hard to ignore: four straight top-10s, including three top-3s (T2-2018, 2nd-2019, 3rd-2020, 7th-2021)… Currently sits one spot outside the top 125.

9. Brian Harman

Mostly off the strength of a world-class short game, the world No. 47 owns seven top-20 results in the 2022 calendar year… In his last five starts, he has three top-20 finishes, two of which were top-10s… The left-hander has the Tour’s 14th best driving accuracy percentage… Best finish in Greensboro: T3 in 2013.

8. Russell Henley

The three-time PGA Tour winner opened with 62, 64 and held the 54-hole lead at the 2021 Wyndham but faded with a final-day 71 to finish T7… Currently ranked No. 54 in the world and enters off a top-10 finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic… A wizard with his irons, the Georgia native ranks 2nd on Tour in strokes gained: approach-the-greens and 6th in greens in regulation.

The veteran Aussie is ranked No. 41 in the world and enters in impressive form with two top 15s in the season’s final two majors… On the season, the 2013 Masters winner owns six top 15s in 14 starts… The 42-year-old sits in 78th place in the FedEx Cup standings… Ranks in the top 30 on Tour in both driving distance and birdies.

The 30-year-old Hatton might be the under the radar, but enters off two straight top-25s in elite events (T11-The Open, T24-Scottish Open)… A savant with the flatstick, the fiery Englishman is 5th on Tour in strokes gained: putting and 7th in total putting… Currently sits No. 27 in the world rankings.

The 24-yar-old Im broke a three-start slump with a T2 at the 3M Open… Ranked No. 21 in the world, the Korean sits in 15th place in the FedEx Cup race and has an outside shot of cracking the Comcast Top 10 (bonus money)… Ranks 6th on Tour in strokes gained: around-the-green and 10th in strokes gained: tee-to-green.

It’s been a banner year for the 2014 FedEx Cup champ, as he enters Greensboro off two wins in the last 10 months, including a victory at the Memorial in June… The Florida native finished runner-up here in 2020 and as one of the top betting favorites this week, absolutely nobody would be surprised if on Sunday he was posing with the Sam Snead Cup… Ranks in the top 25 on Tour in both fairways (18th) and greens hit (25th).

The 2019 Open champion enters off two strong showings across the pond, highlighted by a T9 at the Irish Open… Enjoying one of his best seasons with 13 top 25s in 15 starts… Currently ranked No. 24 in the world… Ranked 5th on the PGA Tour in scoring (69.44)… Finished T23 at Greensboro in 2020.

The world No. 58 enters in strong form, off two straight top-15 finishes, highlighted by a T15 at The Open… The 27-year-old Korean has posted three consecutive top-5 finishes at Greensboro (2019-5th, 2020-T3, 2021-T2)… Kim ranks inside the top 50 in three of the Tour’s strokes gained categories: off-the-tee, around-the-green and tee-to-green.
