Team Championship Course
MARIDOE GOLF CLUB
Carrollton, Texas
Located on the site of the former Columbian Country Club, the property was bought in 2014 by Albert Huddleston. The course was remodeled in 2017 by architect Steve Smyers, the visionary behind the designs of Isleworth and Old Memorial.
The course hosted the 2021 USGA Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship and several other significant tournaments at the amateur and collegiate levels.
Hole No. 2, at 655 yards, is the second-longest hole played this season. Hole No. 8, at 115 yards, is the third-shortest hole played this season.
The 337-yard par-4 sixth should be drivable each day.
Tees, fairways and greens are Bermudagrass, with a projected green speed of 12.
Dallas-area resident Bryson DeChambeau, captain of the defending team champions Crushers GC, comments on Maridoe:
“I view it as a fantastic links-style movable golf course here in Dallas that is unique to its own,” DeChambeau said. “I’ve never seen a golf course that looks the way that Maridoe does. There are other golf courses around here that are links style, but this one tops it for sure.”
DeChambeau referenced the “rolling, moving greens, sloping greens” as part of the Maridoe appeal, and said that players will need to be “incredibly precise” to play well.
He calls Maridoe “probably the toughest course” in Dallas.
DeChambeau added, “You’re never going to play the golf course the same way every single day. It’s a unique golf course every day you come out here. That’s what makes this golf course such a tough test of golf is that you can hit a really great shot and the wind change and it comes up short and it rolls into a completely different area.
“Much like Pinehurst, you have to control your golf ball so well. … It’s an awesome test of golf, and you’ve got to be on your game.”
