History: Baycurrent Classic
The seven-year-old Baycurrent Classic may lack a deep history but its champions include the game’s most iconic star in Tiger Woods; Japan’s only major winner in Hideki Matsuyama; recent American President Cup stars Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa and Patrick Cantlay; along with 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley.

The Baycurrent Classic, then titled the ZOZO Championship, was inserted into the PGA Tour’s wrap-around portion of its 2019-20 schedule. It essentially filled the void of the former CIMB Classic as one of three stops on the Asian Swing.
Making its debut at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan, the event was moved to California for one year during the height of the COVID scare. It made its return to Japanese soil in 2021.

In addition to the ZOZO Championship, Narashino Country Club had hosted several notable golf tournaments over the course of its history, most notably the 1972 Japan Airlines Open with Gary Player taking home the prize. Other notable golfers victorious at Narashino include Graham Marsh, and Seve Ballesteros.
The tournament is co-sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour and the PGA Tour and has been sponsored by ZOZO, a Japanese clothing brand, since the event’s inception in 2019.
In December 2024, it was announced that ZOZO would no longer sponsor the tournament from 2025 onwards, with the tournament moved to Yokohama Country Club and titled the Baycurrent Classic.

Baycurrent Classic Field

Due to the change in the PGA Tour’s schedule, with the FedEx Cup Fall acting as more of a qualifying series for the calendar-year season, the field in Japan is not super stellar but does feature several legitimate superstars in major winners Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Xander Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, and Hideki Matsuyama.
Other marquee names include Rickie Fowler, Min Woo Lee, Max Homa, Jacob Bridgeman, Michael Thorbjornsen, and Ryan Gerard, among others.

Baycurrent Classic Course

The course is the West Course at Yokohama Country Club, a par-71 layout of 7,322 yards.
The original Takeo Aiyama design opened in 1960 and was remodeled by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw in 2015. It is wide but strategic: pine-framed fairways, rolling ground, classic Coore-Crenshaw bunkering, and only two par-5s and three par-3s, so par-4 scoring dominates.
The 18th has been stretched to 482 yards for 2026. Last year’s winning score was 19 under.
This is the second year at Yokohama. The event was previously the Zozo Championship (Tiger Woods won the first edition in 2019 at Narashino).
