Amy Olson fired a bogey-free 9-under 63 on Thursday to take the first-round lead at the CME Group Tour Championship, the LPGA’s season finale.

The 26-year old North Dakota native finished her first day at Tiburon Golf Club with nine pars and nine birdies, highlighted by a set of matching birdie binges: Nos. 6, 7, 8 and 9 and Nos. 14, 15, 16, and 17.

“The greens are absolutely pure. If you’re hitting your line, it holds its line,” said Olson, who needed just 25 putts on day one in Naples.

“I was just seeing the line, reading the putts really well and hitting it where I wanted. You knew you would just enjoy it on those days.”

Despite the sizzling round, Olson’s lead was just one, as Brittany Lincicome and Nasa Hataoka were both at 8-under 64, one clear of Lexi Thompson who was at 7-under 65, followed by Spain’s Carlota Ciganda at 6-under 66.

World No. 1 Ariya Jutanugarn, the defending champion and 2018 Race to CME Globe points eader, shot a 2-under 70 to sit T24.
