Bryson DeChambeau is box-office gold, both on the course and on TV.
According to NBC, the 124th U.S. Open – which saw golf’s two most popular superstars (DeChambeau and Rory McIlroy) battle for supremacy – delivered the strongest numbers on the east coast in the streaming era.
NBC’s final-round coverage of the U.S. Open at Pinehurst produced a total audience of 5.9 million viewers across the seven-hour window. It was the most-watched East Coast finale since the 2013 edition when Justin Rose won over Phil Mickelson at Merion.
The peak viewership numbers were even more historically impressive as NBC’s Sunday broadcast drew an average of 11.35 million viewers from 6:15 p.m. to 6:45 when DeChambeau played the final hole, culminating with an up and down par save for the ages on the 72nd hole to claim his second major.
The viewership was the highest on record since the 2015 edition on the west coast, when Jordan Spieth edged Dustin Johnson at Chambers Bay for his second straight major.

Despite the big numbers on TV, NBC also announced that 2024’s third major was its most-streamed golf event on record with overall consumption up 17 percent over last year’s edition.
Bottom-line: Bryson is a must-watch star.
