On Sunday, LPGA rookie Chisato Iwai, 22, from Japan, stormed to her first career victory at the Mexico Riviera Maya Open at El Camaleon Golf Course, winning by a commanding six shots.
Iwai’s final-round 6-under 66, highlighted by five birdies in the first six holes, propelled her to 12-under 276, matching the season’s largest margin of victory.
Iwai, who outpaced runner-up Jenny Bae (73), earned $375,000 for the win. Iwai, the third rookie to win on the LPGA in 2025, credited her calm mindset for the rout, marking her as the 20th Japanese player to claim an LPGA title. Her twin sister, Akie, tied for 16th.
