Tiger Woods announced that he’ll be skipping the 2025 Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California.
Woods cited the recent loss of his mother, Kultida, and the need to process her death, as the primary reason for opting out of the annual event which benefits his TGR Foundation.
The 15-time major champion, however, did express hope to be present at Torrey Pines later in the week.
I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready. I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss.

“I planned to tee it up this week, but I’m just not ready,” Woods said in a statement on X. “I did my best to prepare, knowing it’s what my Mom would have wanted, but I’m still processing her loss.
“Thanks to everyone who has reached out. I hope to be at Torrey later in the week and appreciate the continued kindness since my Mom’s passing.”
The 49-year-old Woods would have been making his first PGA Tour start since missing the cut at The Open at Royal Troon Golf Course in Scotland last July.
Woods was spotted on Super Bowl Sunday morning playing golf with President Trump at Trump National in West Palm Beach, Florida.
