Odyssey Golf announced the release of its new hybrid type chipper club called the X-Act Tank. The retail release date for the new stick is set for July 15, 2016. With SRP of $129.99.
Here’s a roundup of what the experts are saying.
COUNTERBALANCED FEEL
“The chipper category (it’s a club with putter looks and grip but with the loft of an 8-iron) has been dormant in recent years, but it’s had several revivals in the last two decades. This is the first from a major company since Odyssey’s last introduction about five years ago,” writes Mike Johnson in Golf Digest. “The head weighs a hefty 355 grams and combined with the SuperStroke chipper grip, provides the counterbalanced feel. The X-Act sole helps prevent the chunked shot.”
FUNCTIONAL DESIGN
“What makes the new Odyssey X-Act Tank Chipper different is how it blends functional design and updated technologies into something that could appeal to more mid- and higher-handicap players,” writes David Dusek in GolfWeek
IMPROVES TOUCH AND FEEL
“The “X-Act,” sole is exceptionally wide, greatly reducing the likelihood of thin or heavy shots while a polymer face insert improves touch and feel. Other features of the X-Act Tank Chippers include Odyssey’s hi-definition Marxman alignment system that improves aiming consistency and a non-tapered, extra long SuperStroke chipper grip that further improves stability through the stroke while also allowing players to easily move their hands up and down the grip to execute a variety of shots,” Michael Chwasky writes in Golf.com.
