There will be no three-peat for Europe Captain Catriona Matthew as the back-to-back winning Solheim Cup leader said she will not return for the 2022 edition.

After back-to-back victories at Gleneagles (2019) and Inverness Club (2021), Matthew put a lid on any suggestion she will captain the 2023 matches in Spain.

“Definitely not,” said Matthew during a Golf Channel hit. “Two and done.”

The Scot is the first European captain to lead the team to consecutive wins.

“At Gleneagles, the way it finished and being in front of my home crowd was very special,” said Matthew, when asked to compare the two victories. “This time, winning on American soil wasn’t easy.

“And especially this year with COVID and Europeans not being able to travel made it even sweeter.”
