Bryson DeChambeau posted a final-round 69 at The Ridgewood Country Club to claim his third career PGA Tour title at The Northern Trust.
DeChambeau, who owned the 54-hole lead, finished his final day in New Jersey with 12 pars, two bogeys and four birdies, highlighted by back-to-back gains on Nos. 12 and 13 to move to 18-under par, good for a four-shot victory.
The California native earned $1,620,000 and 2,000 FedExCup points, which moves him from No. 9 all the way up to No. 1.
DeChambeau also picked up 76 Official World Golf Rankings points and is expected to move to No. 12 (from 21). And while not official, he also wrapped up a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team.
Tony Finau (68), also a Ryder Cup hopeful, finished alone in second at 14-under par, earning $972,000, along with 1,200 FedEx points and 44 OWGR points. The Utah native moved to No. 4 in the points standings, and No. 12 in the Official World Golf Rankings. He also pretty much locked up a spot on Furyk’s team.
