FootJoy has announced the launch of its limited edition Premiere Series Black Watch Packard shoes ahead of this week’s Scottish Open and The Open Championship later this month.
In collaboration with iconic brand Harris Tweed, the shoes will complement the theme of links golf and will be sent to FootJoy ambassadors to wear at this week’s Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club, and The Open Championship at Royal St. George’s the following week.
The Black Watch cloth, from the Harris Tweed Hebrides Heritage Collection, has been selected to feature on this limited-edition Premiere Series Packard shoe.
Inspired by Frederick Packard, FootJoy’s founder and shoe pioneer – who drove the adoption of many modern manufacturing and design innovations still employed today.
Timeless in design, the Packard is suffused with performance modernization, led by the all-new VersaTrax+ outsole which employs several TPU mixtures to grasp any surface – a firmer TPU for on-course grip and a sappier TPU for traction on harder surfaces.
The Packard also includes an Ortholite EcoPlush FitBed with perimeter durability in the heel as well as a super-soft underfoot shielding.
Each shoe features its own unique piece of Harris Tweed Black Watch cloth on the saddle with each pair having its own blend of the blue, black and green wool used.
Regulated by The Harris Tweed Act, the fabric must be hand woven in the homes of the residents the Outer Hebrides, Scotland in order to leverage the Harris Tweed name and logo.
Harris Tweed cloth has been produced on the islands of Lewis, Harris, Uist and Barra for generations.
