Gay, Sabbatini Lead After Round One of the Zurich Classic

After several stops and starts due to weather, the first round of the Zurich Classic was finally wrapped up on Friday afternoon. The team of Brian Gay and Rory Sabbatini lead at 12-under par.

The top pair finished with 12 birdies, highlighted by nine in a 10-hole stretch (Nos. 5-14) en route to low-round 60, tying the tournament-record for a four-ball score.

Two groups were one shot back, including Scott Stallings and Trey Mullinax along with the twosome of Cody Gribble and Joey Garber. They were one clear of six groups tied for fourth at 10 under, including tournament favorites Kevin Kisner and Scott Brown.

Kisner’s day was highlighted by a hole-in-one on No. 5, using a 5-iron from 201 yards.
