Smaller headed drivers with shorter shafts are all the rage now with several PGA Tour pros making use of them at least some of the time. With a head only slightly larger than a typical 3-wood the GT280 can fill a slot in a pros or elite amateurs bags as a very strong fairway wood or most likely a straight tee ball club for tight driving holes.

To help off the fairway the GT280 sole is flatter and the leading edge has less curvature to be closer to the ground. The shaft being a full two inches shorter than the regular GT driver helps control tee shots as does the 13° loft.

“GT280 is a completely new offering that was born from golfer feedback,” said Josh Talge, Titleist’s Vice President of Golf Club Marketing.

“We heard from more and more players who were looking for a club that gapped between their driver and 3-wood. For some, this club is for tee shots only. Others need to be able to hit this club off the turf. GT280 is designed to perform exceptionally under both conditions, and it will be a really valuable addition to our metalwood lineup.”
