Kathryn Tappen is out at NBC Golf after just one year. She will be replaced by Golf Channel talent who perform the same role during early round coverage.

This cost cutting measure follows the release of longtime analysts Roger Maltbie and Gary Koch.

Geoff Shackelford, of the Quadrilateral newsletter, was the first to report the news about the talented Tappen.

According to a follow-up report by Golfweek, an unnamed source blamed the “significant cuts” on the “sharp increase in its PGA Tour rights fees,” with the source saying, “it’s not good times at NBC.”

The 41-year-old Tappen, one NBC’s most likeable on-air personalities, moved over to the golf broadcast team “>just last year after NBC lost the rights to the NHL, which was her primary role at the Peacock network.

Tappen was part of NBC’s coverage of the Presidents Cup in September and is scheduled to conduct on-course interviews for TNT’s The Match on Saturday evening from Florida.
