In the 2025 Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, Laurie Canter (69) emerged victorious, clinching his second DP World Tour title in a thrilling playoff. The event, known for its competitive field, saw Canter, Pablo Larrazabal (70), and Dan Brown (70) all tied at the top after 72 holes, leading to a playoff.

Canter navigated through the tournament with a series of steady performances, culminating in a final round score of 69. The playoff was particularly intense, with each player showcasing their skill under pressure. However, it was England’s Canter who secured the win with a decisive birdie on the first playoff hole. His victory was celebrated for both his strategic play and his coolness under pressure, marking a significant moment in his career.

“I’m so chuffed to have stuck in there,” said Canter. “It’s unfortunate what happened to Pablo but I’m absolutely delighted to have stuck in and got another win.

“A lot of the stuff I’ve kind of stumbled on at the beginning of this year, being part of that Team Cup and listening to a few of the speakers and people, how they deal with pressure.

“So I just said ‘we’ve got a job to do here and let’s really knuckle into what we’re trying to do, hit some quality shots under pressure’.

“And I did that great. The two swings I made in the play-off were super and then sort of limped the putt in so it was nice to win with a three.”

Spain’s Larrazabal and England’s Brown shared second place on 14 under, one clear of Martin Couvra (70), Ivan Cantero (69), Richie Ramsay (68) and David Puig (64).

The championship not only highlighted Canter’s talent but also the high level of competition on the DP World Tour, with many players showing remarkable skill throughout the event. The win at the Royal Golf Club in Bahrain added to the excitement of the season’s early stages, setting the tone for what promises to be an enthralling year on the European PGA tour.
