The LIV Golf Miami tournament at Trump National Doral is set to tee off from April 4-6, 2025, marking the fifth event of the 2025 LIV Golf League season and the final tune-up before the Masters.

Held at the iconic Blue Monster course, this tournament is the fourth consecutive year that Trump National Doral has hosted a LIV Golf event, making it the only course to feature in each of the league’s first four seasons. Known for its challenging layout — stretching over 7,500 yards with deep bunkers, undulating greens, and a notorious water hazard guarding the 18th — the Blue Monster promises to test the skills of some of golf’s biggest names on the eve of the major season.

This year’s field is stacked with star power. Defending champion Dean Burmester, who claimed the 2024 title in a playoff against Sergio Garcia, returns to tackle the course he described as a tough beast where “any time you can shoot under par, you’ve played pretty well.” The South African will face stiff competition from major winners like Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, and Bryson DeChambeau, all of whom are gearing up for Augusta.

Rahm, the Legion XIII captain, brings momentum after his team’s success in 2024, while Koepka, a five-time major champ, calls the Blue Monster a “big boy course” that demands precision.

DeChambeau, meanwhile, has already etched his name in LIV Miami lore with his unforgettable “Birdie over the Birdie Shack” chip in 2023, helping his Crushers GC to a team victory.

Other marquee names include Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, Cameron Smith, Patrick Reed, and Joaquin Niemann, who leads the individual points standings with two wins this season.

The tournament’s timing — just days before the Masters — adds extra stakes, with 12 LIV golfers, including seven past Augusta champions, using this as a final tune-up. The Blue Monster’s reputation as a ball-striker’s paradise, combined with its strategic demands, mirrors the challenges of Augusta National, making it an ideal prep test.

Players like Koepka, Niemann and DeChambeau, known for their length off the tee, should thrive.

Beyond the individual battle, the team competition heats up with Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC entering atop the standings, chasing a fourth straight team title. The $25 million purse — $20 million for the individual event and $5 million for the team pot — ensures the intensity will match the stakes, with $4 million awaiting the individual winner and $3 million for the top team.

The shotgun-start format keeps the action tight across three days, with Fox, FS1, and FS2 broadcasting the event for fans at home. As the golf world watches, including President Trump – who arrived on Thursday afternoon via Marine One, the clash at Trump National Doral could set the tone for who’s peaking at just the right moment for the majors.

Will Burmester defend his crown, or will a big name like Rahm or Koepka seize the spotlight? The Blue Monster awaits.
