Due to ongoing health concerns related to the COVID-19 crisis, and the considerable travel constraints in place, the 2021 Blue Bay LPGA, scheduled for May 13–16, 2021 in Hainan Island, China, has been cancelled.

It marks the for the third consecutive LPGA season that the Blue Bay will not be contested. Originally contested as part of the LPGA’s Asian Swing in the fall, the tournament was removed from the 2019 schedule and placed in the May slot the following season. It was cancelled again as the 2020 season was wiped out entirely by the virus from China (COVID-19).

“The 2021 Blue Bay LPGA, originally scheduled for May 13 – 16, is cancelled further to the guidance of our partners, the China Golf Association, and will return to the schedule in its usual spring date in 2022,” the LPGA release stated via email.

“We thank Hainan Greentown Blue Bay, the China Golf Association, CLPGA and IMG for all their efforts and very much look forward to returning to Hainan in 2022.”

Blue Bay LPGA was last played Nov. 7-10, 2018, with Gaby Lopez winning her maiden title.
