Miguel Angel Jimenez closed with a 69 on the Old Course at St Andrews to reach 12-under-par and edge Bernhard Langer for the Senior Open title.
The win was Jimenez’s second major of the 2018 season, and he called it one of his greatest ever.
“This is one of my biggest victories. It’s amazing to win here,” said Jimenez. “This is my second Major of the year, and it’s amazing to be the winner of The Senior Open here at St Andrews, the Home of Golf.
“There are no words to describe the feeling of holding the trophy on the 18th green. To have that trophy in my hand in front of the crowd and my friends, and my family is amazing.”
Langer shot a 68 to finish solo second at 11-under par, one clear of Scott McCarron (68), Kirk Triplett (69) and Stephen Ames (69) who tied for third at 10 under.
