NBC Hires Paul Azinger to Replace Johnny Miller

NBC Sports announced that it has hired Paul Azinger to be its lead golf analyst, replacing Johnny Miller.

Miller’s final broadcast in the NBC booth will be the first weekend in February at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, an event he won twice (1974-75).

Azinger worked for 10 years at ABC and ESPN, before moving to Fox Sports in 2016, following the departure of Greg Norman.

As part of the deal, Azinger will remain at Fox to work the two USGA majors – the U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open.

“Everyone says I’ve got big shoes to fill,” said Azinger. “I’m not trying to fill anybody’s shoes. The challenge is to be yourself. The action is the action. I don’t mind being blunt. It doesn’t have to be derogatory.”

Azinger is a 12-time PGA Tour winner, including the 1993 PGA Championship.
