Nicolai von Dellingshausen of Germany claimed his maiden DP World Tour victory Sunday, winning the 2025 Austrian Alpine Open with a final-round 65 to finish at 19-under 269, two shots clear of the field. The 32-year-old’s emotional triumph at Golf Club Gut Altentann marked his 110th career start and ended a challenging journey that included losing his tour card.

Von Dellingshausen, one shot behind compatriot Marcel Schneider entering the final round, surged ahead with back-to-back birdies on the third and fourth holes. A bogey on the sixth briefly stalled his momentum, but a birdie-eagle-birdie run from the eighth to the 10th gave him a three-shot lead. He parred his final eight holes, navigating late scares, including a fairway bunker on the 16th and a wayward drive on the 18th that landed safely in the rough.

“I’m lost for words,” von Dellingshausen said, fighting tears. “The last two-and-a-half years were so hard, losing my card. I felt in control all week, hitting the shots I wanted. That par save on 16 was when I knew it was mine.”

Schneider, who led after each of the first three rounds, carded a 68 to tie for second at 17 under with Norway’s Kristoffer Reitan, who fired a bogey-free 60, narrowly missing a 26-foot eagle putt on the 18th for a historic 59. Denmark’s Jeff Winther took fourth at 13 under, while Germany’s Marcel Siem rounded out the top five at 12 under, capping a strong showing for German golfers.

Von Dellingshausen’s victory earned him €412,000 from the €2.75 million purse and 600 Race to Dubai points, vaulting him from 113th to 21st in the season rankings. He also secured a significant jump in the Official World Golf Ranking, projected to move from 457th to near the top 200. The win makes him the third German to claim the Austrian Open, joining Bernhard Langer (1990) and Alex Čejka (1995).

Reitan’s 60, the first sub-61 score on the DP World Tour since November 2023, set a daunting clubhouse target.

“I was on fire, but Nico played unbelievable golf,” Reitan said. Schneider, despite the disappointment, praised his compatriot: “Nico was tough to catch today. I’m happy with second.”

Von Dellingshausen, a HotelPlanner Tour graduate, credited his resilience after twice finishing runner-up on the DP World Tour. His consistent rounds of 65-66-65-65 showcased his command of the 7,010-yard layout. The victory also earned him a unique trophy featuring a Hohe Tauern mountain crystal on a pinewood base, symbolizing alpine craftsmanship.

The DP World Tour moves to the BMW International Open in Munich next, where von Dellingshausen will look to build on his breakthrough.
