Joaquin Niemann captured his third LIV Golf title of the season Sunday, winning the LIV Golf Mexico City with a final-round 65 to finish at 16-under 197, three strokes ahead of Bryson DeChambeau and Lucas Herbert at Club de Golf Chapultepec.
The 26-year-old Chilean, who also won at Mayakoba in Mexico last year, outlasted a strong field, rallying past DeChambeau, the second-round leader, and Herbert, who tied the course record with a 61. Niemann’s bogey-free front nine and a birdie on the par-3 18th sealed his fifth career LIV Golf victory, tying him with Brooks Koepka for the most in the league’s history.
“It’s hard to make it more special than this,” Niemann said, drenched in champagne on the 18th green. “The crowd was amazing, giving me so much energy. To win here in Mexico City, with my mom here for the first time outside Chile, it’s unreal.”
Niemann’s win extended his lead in the LIV Golf individual points standings, securing the league’s exemption into the U.S. Open at Oakmont in June. The exemption, awarded to the top non-exempt player in the top three of the standings as of May 19, was clinched with one event remaining before the deadline.

“My team kept pushing me to sign up for qualifiers, but I wasn’t into playing 36 holes on a Monday,” Niemann said. “I’m just grateful to have this spot locked up.”
DeChambeau, who led after a second-round 66, struggled on the back nine, carding a 70 to tie for second at 13-under with Herbert.
Legion XIII, captained by Jon Rahm, won the team competition at 28-under, edging out Cameron Smith’s Ripper GC by two strokes. Rahm finished fourth individually at 12-under with a 68, joined by teammates Tyrrell Hatton (68), Caleb Surratt (69), and Tom McKibbin (70).
The high-altitude Club de Golf Chapultepec, situated 7,800 feet above sea level, challenged players with increased shot distances. Niemann excelled, hitting 88.89% of greens in regulation and scrambling perfectly on his two missed greens. He also recorded the longest drive of the tournament at 404.5 yards on the 12th hole.
Niemann’s victory adds to his stellar 2025 season, which includes wins in Adelaide and Singapore. With the U.S. Open exemption, he is set to compete in all four majors this year for the first time since 2023, having already played at the Masters last month.
Legion XIII’s team win marked their second of the season and sixth overall, moving them to the top of the season-long team standings. The LIV Golf season continues next week with LIV Golf Korea.
