Ireland’s Padraig Harrington captured his second U.S. Senior Open title on Sunday at Broadmoor Golf Club, outlasting Stewart Cink by one stroke in a dramatic final-round duel.

The 53-year-old Dubliner, a three-time major champion, carded a 3-under 67 to finish at 11-under 269, earning the $800,000 prize and joining Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player as the only players with multiple Open and U.S. Senior Open victories.

Harrington, who also won the event in 2022, started strong with birdies on three of his first five holes. Despite bogeys on the 7th and 10th, he regained the lead with a 12-foot birdie on the 11th and sealed the win with a clutch approach to 8 feet on the 18th, two-putting for par.

Cink, who played alongside Harrington all four rounds, finished at 10-under after a missed birdie on the 17th and a wayward approach on the 18th.

Miguel Angel Jimenez’s 6-under 64 placed him third at 9-under.

“As Stewart [Cink] said himself, I think we played the most in terms of anybody else,” Harrington told NBC Sports in a post-round interview.

“Obviously in 2007 I played with Stewart when I won my first major. Yeah, he’s very comfortable to play with. We have very similar games. Very easygoing. I would say for 63 holes we talked a lot and for the last nine holes things were a little quieter. It was always in good spirit. Mark Hensby was excellent as well. So those are the breaks you need when you’re out there winning.”

The World Golf Hall of Famer’s 10th PGA Tour Champions win adds to his storied career, which includes Open Championships in 2007 and 2008 and the 2008 PGA Championship.
