The latest star in golf is a 27-year old mini tour pro named Michael Visacki. The Sarasota, Fla. native, who never gave up on his dream of making it to the PGA Tour, finally fulfilled that lifelong goal by winning Monday’s Valspar Championship Qualifier in a playoff.
Visacki’s emotional phone call with his family was captured on video, and posted to the PGA Tour’s social channels. The video went viral.
And now “Big Mike” Visacki, who’s toiled on Florida’s mini tours for seven years, will be teeing it up the famed Copperhead Course, alongside the likes of Justin Thomas, Patrick Reed, and two-time defending champion Paul Casey, who all congratulated Visacki via replies on the PGA Tour’s IG post.
Thomas replied: “Amazing 🙌”
Casey: “Very cool. 👏”
Other PGA Tour players chimed in as well:
Bryson DeChambeau: “So freaking incredible. This is why we play!🔥🔥”
Joel Dahmen: “Dream big Mike!”
Kevin Na: “👏👏👏 all the best this week!”
Andrew Landry: “I hope you beat me in a playoff…👏”
Lanto Griffin: “This is what it’s all about… validation for all the hard work 👏🏽”
