While 156 players teed it up last week in Napa, California, Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay were the area the week prior – but for weekend of wine tasting and fine dining.
Schauffele, the reigning Olympic Gold medalist, and Cantlay, the current FedExCup champion, (see pic 3) brought along their significant others for a couples weekend, ahead of the 43rd Ryder Cup matches in Wisconsin.
U.S. Captain Steve Stricker is expected to pair the duo in foursome and four-ball matches this week at Whistling Straits.
Many in the comments wondered if Cantlay picked up the tab considering it was days after he’d won the $15 million first prize of the FedExCup. (Not that Schauffele is exactly hurting, with on-course earnings of at least $32 million since 2017.)
