LIV Golf is set to increase its weekly tournament purses to $30 million starting in 2026, with an additional $5 million allocated to the team competition, according to a report by the Sports Business Journal on Monday.

The individual competition will maintain its $20 million purse, while the team pot will double to $10 million, reinforcing LIV’s emphasis on its unique team format.

The expanded team payouts will distribute funds across all 13 LIV Golf teams based on performance, from first-place to 13th – a shift from the current structure where only the top three teams earn prize money ($3M, $1.5M, and $500,000, respectively). In 2025, for instance, the Cleeks, IronHeads, and Majesticks have yet to earn a check, while the HyFlyers and RangeGoats have just one podium finish each. Meanwhile, squads like Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs, Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers and Jon Rahm’s Legion have dominated the podiums (and payouts).

This change aims to bolster struggling team franchises with 60% of team winnings directed to operational budgets and 40% split among players.

The move follows LIV’s 2025 season, where Joaquin Niemann leads the money list with over $22 million, highlighted by his fifth win at LIV Golf UK.

The increased purses, surpassing the PGA Tour’s $25 million Players Championship, signal LIV’s intent to further differentiate itself as it heads into its fourth season.
