Rory McIlroy wrapped up the 2024 European tour season by claiming victory at the DP World Tour Championship while also nabbing the Race to Dubai title.
The Northern Irishman shot a final-day 69 at Jumeirah’s Earth course to reach 15 under, good for a two-shot win over Denmark’s Rasmus Hojgaard (71).
McIlroy’s round was highlighted by four straight birdies on Nos. 2-5 to pull away from the chasing pack.

“It means a lot. I’ve been through a lot this year, professionally, personally and it feels like a fitting end to 2024,” said McIlroy, who now owns six European tour points titles.
“I’ve persevered a lot this year, had close calls and couldn’t get it done. So to be able to get over the line. I’m really pleased with the way I finished and thankfully I hung on on a tough day and got it done.
“It’s been a long year, my 27th tournament, which is a lot to me. Looking forward to a little bit of downtime.
“I have a lot of friends and my family here in Dubai so I’m sure we’ll have a good night tonight.”

A pair of stars in Aussie Adam Scott (68) and Irishman Shane Lowry (68) finished tied for third on 11 under.
Frenchman Antoine Rozner (73), who birdied the 18th to earn a PGA Tour card for next season, was also in the T3 group.
Englishman Tyrrell Hatton (71) was one further back on 10 under, good for solo sixth.
Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre (70), Chilean Joaquin Niemann (73), Japan’s Keita Nakajima (71) and Swede Jesper Svensson (73) rounded out the top 10 finishers at 9 under.
