Team USA will take a commanding 6-2 lead into Saturday’s matches after taking three more points in the afternoon fourball session.

Dustin Johnson and Xander Schauffele were able to put the first points on the board, beating Bernd Wiesberger and Paul Casey, 2&1. This put the United States up 4-1 at the time.

The Americans quickly added another full point when Harris English and Tony Finau closed out the Irish pair of Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry, 4&3.

With two matches to go, Team USA was up 5-1.

The European duo of Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton were able to pull out a half point when Hatton made a seven-footer on the 18th hole to win the hole and halve their match with Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler.

Finally, in the anchor match, the American pair of Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay battled back from 3-down to halve their match with Tommy Fleetwood and Viktor Hovland. A clutch eagle by Thomas on the 16th hole was the key.
