Steve Stricker carded a 3-under par 67 at Southern Hills, and will enter Sunday’s finale of the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship atop the leaderboard.
The 51-year old Wisconsin native, who started the day four off the pace of overnight leader Mike Weir, posted five birdies against two bogeys en route to a three-day score of 6-under par.
“I struck it nicely today,” said Stricker. “I putted it nicely.
“Couple bogeys I made just kind of some wrong clubs. I hit a 4-iron at the 6th hole and kind of just flagged it, penetrated right through the wind, went over the back, didn’t get that up-and-down. And another one too, I hit it in the middle of the green and 3-putted.
“But, yeah, it’s a tough place and it’s, it gets your attention on a lot of shots. So it’s a great test and I feel good about what I did today.”
Alex Cejka was one back on 5 under following a third-day 68. The German was two clear of halftime leader Weir, who struggled to a 74 and dropped back to 3 under.
Tim Petrovic (68) and KJ Choi (71) rounded out the top-five leaders at T4 on 1-under par.
