The 145th Open Championship begins this Thursday at Royal Troon in Scotland, and players are looking forward to possibly adding their name to the list of those who have hoisted the Claret Jug.
According to the latest census figures, there are about 7.125 billion people alive in the world right now, yet only 36 of them can say that they’ve hoisted the Golf Championship Trophy (aka The Claret Jug) at least once in their lifetime.
Here’s a look at the list, from youngest to oldest.
1. Rory Mcilroy, 27, Northern Ireland
McIlroy was 25 when he won at Royal Liverpool in 2014.
2. Louis Oosthuizen, 33, South Africa
Oosthuizen was 27 when he won at St. Andrews in 2010.
3. Ben Curtis, 39, United States
Curtis was 26 when he won at Royal St Georges in 2003.
4. Zach Johnson, 40, United States
Johnson was 39 when he won at St Andrew’s in 2015.
5. Tiger Woods, 40, United States
Woods was 24 when he won his first at St Andrews in 2000, and 29 when he won again in 2005. He was 30 when he captured his third at Royal Liverpool in 2006.
6. Stewart Cink, 43, United States
Cink was 36 when he won at Turnberry in 2009.

Leonard was 25 when he won at Royal Troon in 1997.
