Project Golf, a Myrtle Beach based grow-the-game effort, will host a promotional match featuring six-time major champion Nick Faldo, nine-time major winner Gary Player, NFL legend and three-time Super Bowl champion Jerry Rice, and Charles Kelley, an avid golfer and five-time Grammy winner as a member of the band, Lady A.
“The Match,” which will be hosted by former PGA Tour player and media personality Charlie Rymer, will be played April 29 here at the famed Dunes Golf & Beach Club, Myrtle Beach’s most decorated course.
The sports and entertainment stars are coming together to raise money for Project Golf, an organization dedicated to growing the game through outreach to America’s military veterans, junior golfers and communities that have previously been underrepresented.
While competing, Faldo, Player, Rice and Kelly will appear live on the Play Golf Myrtle Beach Facebook page throughout the day, encouraging viewers to donate through Project Golf’s $18 for 18 drive, a grassroots fundraising effort that will allow the non-profit organization to turn small donations into big results.
“The Match” will also be featured on a future episode of the Charlie Rymer Golf Show, a new 30-minute program that is televised nationally by CBS Sports Network on Monday nights at 8:30 p.m.
Project Golf is dedicated to providing new golfers a path to sustained enjoyment of the game, bringing people to the sport for a lifetime. The organization hosts clinics for juniors, military veterans, and anyone with an interest in taking up golf.
