Jack Nicklaus shared this picture of a telegram (before email and twitter) Arnold Palmer sent him congratulating him after he won the ’86 Masters.
Palmer wrote: “Jack, I think it was fantastic, congratulations. Arn PS – Do you think here’s a chance for a 56 year old?”

Nicklaus famously won the 50th Masters Tournament in 1986 at the age of 46, becoming the oldest Masters winner ever. It would be Jack’s final major victory giving him 18 in his illustrious career.

Arnold Palmer, along with Nicklaus and Gary Player, formed the Big Three of golf, which helped globalize the game in the late 60s and 70s. Palmer was always a friend to everyone he met until the day he died. This note to Nicklaus following his Masters victory shows how good of a competitor and a friend Palmer was.
