Tony Romo made news a couple weeks back after a video of him hitting a chip shot from a deck at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am went viral.

The former Dallas Cowboys QB was participating in the Pebble Beach event as one of the many celebrities. This summer he’ll be teeing it up as one of the players in the field at the AT&T Byron Nelson in Dallas.

“Golf is one of my greatest passions outside my family and football, and I am honored to have the opportunity to compete among the pros again in this year’s AT&T Byron Nelson,” said Romo in a press release.

It will mark Romo’s second official start in a PGA Tour event. He teed it up last March at the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship in the Dominican Republic, and missed the cut after opening rounds of 77 and 82.

The Byron Nelson will be contested in May at Trinity Forest Golf Club, where Romo is a member.

“Following his summer successes, the timing feels perfect. Tony Romo is a legendary competitor, a member of Trinity Forest, and long-time friend of AT&T and the Salesmanship Club of Dallas,” said Jon Drago, the tournament director.

“We look forward to watching him put his talents to test while competing against the best in the game of golf.”
